- describe the major thoracic, abdominal and lover limb vessels
- differentiate between and artery vein or lympatic vessel
- be able to describe the different forms of capillart exchange
- identify the anatomy associated with vascular access points
Vasucalture histology
elastic arteries are closer to the heart elasticity is for accomodation while maintaining MABP muscular arteries have more muscle for vasoconstriction
veins have extensive tunica adventitia (fibrous collagen) for limiting enlargement for venous capacitance
tunica intima tunica media tunica adventita
sympathetic nerves extend past sa and av nodes to the musculature itself
thicken intima can be a sign of atherosclerosis
venous valves as well
Capillary exchange
Continuous capillaries. relatively complete capillary wall
diameter is about the size of a RBC diffusion though intercellular cleft possible but still regulated
Fenestrated capillaries. has endothelial fenestrations
still has to go through the basal lamina
Sinusoid capillaries has pores and also gaps in the basal lamina
Vascular access
touches on performing a coronary angiogram and then a intravascular ultrasound
putting in a balloon stent
acc ess through the femoral artery
pseudo aneuryms
radial artery access which is easier but harder
femoral artery is standard atm i think
