What are respiratory tract infections
RTIs are the most common infection and also the leading cause of infection-related deaths. Viruses cause the majority of these infections but bacteria cause significant morbidity and mortality,
RTIs can be broken into URTIs and LRTIs. URTIs include Rhinosinusitis, pharyngitis and otitis media. LRTIs include bronchitis and bronchiolitis as erll as pneumonia
URTI
Streptococcal pharyngitis
This is infection of the pharynx by streptococcus pyogenes (a GAS). The informal name is Strep throat, Ptrept
LRTI
Acute bronchitis Chronic bronchitis pneumonia PResentations of pneumonia types of pneumonia signs of each and common causative agents Laboratory diagnosis
