  • fibres are elastin and collagen

Cells of CT

Resident cells fibroblasts

  • make ECM
  • spindle shaped
  • most numerous
  • adhered to fibres lipocytes
  • oval/ spherical shape
  • single or in a froup
  • centre holds fat
  • peripheral rom of cytoplasm with nucleus mesenchymal stem cells migrant cells mast cells mainly seen in loose CT round central nucleus prominent vesicles and golgu histamin and heparin and such secretion in response to trauma/antigen

Collagen

structural protein with lots of strength usually white and runs paralell 4 types of collagen

  1. dermis vone tendon ligaments etc (most common)
  2. cartilage
  3. dermis
  4. basal lamina
Elastin

Less common than collagen fibres can branch out stretch and recoil

Ground substance


Cartilage

Cartilage is load bearing CT covered by perichondium (except in articular surfaces)
