Objectives: Identify and describe the 4 components fo anxiety

Understand the key elements and the diagnostic criteria for the main anxiety disorders to the extant that you can differentiate between the disorders if you are given case material

Demonstrate an understanding of the manner in which patients present with specific anxiety disorders and how the disorder affects functionality and behaviours

Take home: anxiety disorder is when there is disproportionate amount of anxiety for a undeserving situation

Things to note:

anxiety is quite responsive to cbt

Rambles: panic disorder

panic disorder is reccurent unexpected panic attacks paired with worry about panic attacks or avoidance/behaviour change they need to be out of the vblue as well you have to make sure it is unrelated to another condition

abrupt surge of fear that includes 4 or more od following symptoms and peaks within 10 minutes palpiations sweating tremblind shortness of breath etc

Agoraphobia fear of being in a situation where they could not get help or escape or embarrassing symptoms provoke fears need companion endured with fear out of proportion to the actual danger persistent causes significant distress not better explain by another disorder

specific phobia marked fear from an object obsessive and unreasonable persistant

seperation anxiety when there is fear over being seperated from attached individual
