Tutorial Objectives:

To consolidate students’ knowledge of MI, with a particular emphasis on the benefits of using MI approaches to improve treatment adherence and health behavioural change. For students to practise identifying and using MI techniques and approaches through an active listening activity and observing video clips of interviews taking place in health care settings. To appreciate that MI interviewing techniques reflect generic principles of effective interviewing, so they are useful in all clinical settings, not just discussions of lifestyle change.
