The X nerves
cranial nerves IX, X and cranial root XI all share same nuclei
nucleus ambiguus - does branchial motor cr X attaches to this cr XI attaches to this spinal XI is from the accessory nuclaus in spinal cord it does sternocleumastoid
Important nuclei for IX X and XI
nucleus of solitary tract rostral 3rd is taste lower 2 thirds are general visceral
upper parasympathetic somes from doral motor nucleus of the vagus
superior and inferior salivator nuclei
hypoglossal
nucleus of tractus solitarius
VII anterior 2?3rd IX post 1/3rd x / crXI are epiglottis
each ix, x and xi do stuff in the mouth and the parasympatetic system of the body
ix does carotid sinus and carotid body
aortic arch and aortic body as well as lung mucous and gut
the efferent is done by the dorsal motor X (X and CR XI) salivatory nuclei (VII and IX) and edinger westphal (pupil constriction, also parasympatetic sympathetic)
branchial motor
motor imput to the muscles of the throat and down to larynx, critical for swallowing and breathing has dual innervation from both hemisphere
