Trauma or injury

Osteoarthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis

An autoimmune inflammatory arthritis resulting in reaction to joints or joint tissues. it presents as pain and stiffness in the fingers, elbows, shoulders, knees, and ankles. Fatigue is a common symptom. sleep is harder. considerable deformity is seen in the later stages of disease.

Bursitis

inflammation of a joints bursa, it can present as pain on joint movement, swelling, and reduced ROM. Different locations can have different colloquial names

Polymyalgia rheumatica

inflammatory condition which presents as pain of the shoulder and pelvic girdle muscles. Usually occurs in patients over 50. Usually responds well to oral corticosteroids

Gout

crystal arthropathy from precipitation of uric acid crystals in joints. severe inflammaiton swelling and extreme pain are the typical symptoms. often the big toe (metatarsophalangeal joint.)

Septic arthritis

inFection of the joint space, serious condition, acute presentation with very painful and rapidly progressive arthritis, in association with typical signs of infection

Psoriatic arthritis

chronic inflammatory arthritis. can be indistinuighible from RA. associated with nail pitting and rash of psoriasis
