This is a protein which causes coagulation (duh)
There are 2 types:
Free
This is “free” from the organism and catalyses prothrombin to thrombin. This contributes to abscess formation
Bound
This is attached to the cell wall and coverts fibrinogen to fibrin to make a capsule. This also triggers clumping and gives immune evasion
