This should serve as a point to access different subjects and give a bit on what they are.
Block and vertical modules
Block modules are highly anatomy and physiology heavy. They often introduce diseases and lead the vertical modules in general themes. For example during CVS you do a lot of cardiovascualr related content in Infection and Immunity, Pathology, Cases, etc.
Blood
This the study of blood, and cells which reside within. Often joins up with Genetics for a number of topics. This is heavy in the start and the end of first semester but in less so in second semester.
Cancer
Study of cancer aspects and connects up with other subjects quite a bit. Leads into lung and colorectal cancer. Occurs a few times in mid second semester. We don’t have many lectures for cancer. It is also later in the year compared to the other subjects.
Integrated cases
This module is like pathology, it follows the disease of the fortnight, and so it is more of an everything module. It does introduce a large amount of content through IDL which is commonly assessed.
Clinical pharmacology
Clinical pharmacology gives us knowledge about drugs that can help us treat conditions we cover in block and vertical modules.
This is an important subject because drugs are a (the most?) common form of treatment
Clinical skills
This is all about your physical and communicative skills that you would express in a clinical environment. Is quite physical and requires problem solving, application of content and understand of the lay presentations of disease.
Cardiovascular System
Block module covering the cardiovascular system, and related diseases.
Genetics
This is a subject about genetics and therapies for genetic and other diseases. lots of abstract in depth understanding needed. flashcard the terms but an understanding of the actually molecular mechanics is useful.
Gastrointestinal system
Block module covering the Gastrointestinal system, and related diseases.
Infection and immunity
This is all about infectious disease, testing, your immune system and there is a significant amount of lab work
Musculoskeletal
By far the most anatomy heavy block module and the biggest block module. You will need flashcards. This is the last real time we go heavily into the msk system apparently
Pathology
Pathology is constant and fortnightly for the most part. We cover a specific condition in depth which aligns most with weekly themes and block module content. We also see some other lectures on general principle of injury, inflammation, healing and hypersensetivity.
Public Health
…
Psychological medicine
Block module whichis different from the others, You learn about medical psychology, Mental illness and Typical aging. It is flashcardable but i think lived experience is the beat teacher
Respiratory
Block module. SO much physiology and disease. bugger all anantomy but its still there,
